Gorman wrote to let Fogarty know that Dr. Michael DeBakey had been talking to several physicians and to the House Subcommittee on Health and Safety regarding the inadequacy of heart research in the United States--he used President Eisenhower's cholesterol measurements as example. He also enclosed a copy of DeBakey's statement supporting international medical research.
