Six months into the pandemic, 40 percent of parents with young children have experienced economic fallout: findings from the September 11–28 Coronavirus Tracking Survey
Early childhood experiences play a crucial role in shaping outcomes in adulthood. But limited attention has been given to the risks associated with hardships currently being experienced by families with young children. In this brief, we examine how families with children under age 6 are faring six months into the pandemic. Using data from the most recent wave of the Coronavirus Tracking Survey, a nationally representative survey of nonelderly adults conducted September 11–28, 2020, we assess food insecurity and other key indicators of material hardship and well-being in September among families with young children.
