Abstract:
This program is presented by Dr. Alvin F. Moreland, Director of the Animal Resources Center at the J.H. Miller Health Center of the University of Florida, and Dr. Donald D. Hunt, Director of the New England Primate Research Center of Harvard Medical School. The two discuss viral diseases of primates and the ways that the similarities and differences between humans and non-human primates affect the ways that the different types of the herpesvirus family present themselves. Further discussion covers treatment of the diseases, ongoing research, and examples of outbreaks that have occurred historically.
