Abstract:
(Critical) This program discusses the underlying principles and the technique of performing impedance audiometry. Various cases and their testing are presented to illustrate practical application to middle ear and inner ear disease states. Interpretation of the results of three components of impedance audiometry -- tympanometry, static compliance and acoustic reflexes -- is explained. The tests' function as far as differential diagnosis of otologic disease is defined. Written abstracts, which include post-tests, key the contents of each segment to the digital counter of the videocassette machine to facilitate the accessibility of any section. This well-organized production is enhanced by numerous renditions of drawings, actual equipment and test graphs. This program is highly recommended for use.
