Abstract:
(Critical) This module, part of a series, is a clear introduction to intravenous infusion techniques. Equipment, procedures, precautions, and common problems are reviewed. Various methods of intravenous cannulae to obtain continuous access to the circulatory system are described, with the basic flexible cannula-over-needle technique cited as the most commonly used. Sterile technique is emphasized. This detailed, yet concise, program is highly recommended for various levelsof instruction.
