Abstract:
(Critical) This program is a brief synopsis of the light microscopic appearance of following glands: parotid, submandibular, sublingual, pancreas, liver and gall bladder. It does not present a complete anatomical picture of these organs. The program includes no electron micrographs and only a few seconds of viewing these organs under oil immersion. One anatomical fallacy is present which warrants notation -- in the section on the liver, a phagocytic cell lining a hepatic sinusoid is pictured, accompanied by the inaccurate statement that "phagocytic cells are characteristic of all sinusoids". The media is used to excellent advantage; technically, the tape is crisp and clear. With the understanding that it is not a detailed presentation of the histology of these organs, this program is recommended for use.
