Abstract:
(Critical) This program gives a clear consistent description of the clinical presentation of and suggested diagnostic studies to uncover a para or intrasellar mass lesion affecting the visual system. Basic rules to avoid mistaken diagnosesare emphasized. Topics discussed include visual fields, visual acuity, optic nerve, optic chiasm, pituitary apoplexy and craniopharyngioma. The variations of clinical presentations and diagnostic studies are well documented with the exception of the omission of computerized tomograms. The development of the material in a step-wise fashion is commendable and very useful. Overall, the program is highly recommended.
