(Critical) This program presents a physician interviewing a diabetic patient. The patient is very knowledgeable about her illness and tends to dominate and lead the interviewer, who is not skillfull in controlling the rate and focus of the interview. The program demonstrates a fair to poor interview technique and strengths and weaknesses in patient/physician communication. It presents a patient's perception and response to a serious illness during the stabilization phase of the illness. This program is informative and is useful as a supplementary teaching tool for students. An instructor would be needed to define the purpose and learning objectives and to discuss the material during or after the presentation.
