In 2019, the PSA established its in-house Data Science and Research group and began publishing its peer-reviewed scholarly journal, Patient Safety. The September 2019 publication of Patient Safety also marked the transition from the Authority's Pennsylvania Patient Safety Advisory, which had its final edition in March 2019. The PSA continued to expand the Center of Excellence for Improving Diagnosis, providing leadership, guidance, and support to improve diagnosis throughout the Commonwealth. All these programs are offered at no additional cost to the facilities. The PSA continues to expand its services by organizing and maintaining research collaborations with reporting facilities and other patient safety-centric organizations. In addition, the PSA offers continuing education and patient safety curriculum development, and continues to provide the Patient Safety Authority speakers bureau. By directly offering clinical guidance, feedback, and educational programs to providers about actual events that occur in Pennsylvania, the PSA provides measurable value back to the healthcare industry that contributes to funding this program. Read about all the other exciting accomplishments the Authority achieved in the last year and the powerful impact it has on healthcare and patient safety.
