In this letter, Osler told his friend about a Storer medal, and commented on the transition to full-time medical professorships at Johns Hopkins. The Rockefeller Foundation had given Johns Hopkins School of Medicine a 1.5 million dollar grant to follow this and other recommendations made by Abraham Flexner when he evaluated the medical school in 1911. Osler and others advised against the plan, as he indicated here. His post-script referred to an illuminated manuscript of the Canon of Avicenna given to him by his friend Dr. M. Sa'eed.
