In this letter, Osler enclosed a "joke prospectus" for an edited volume of articles about seasickness (written by members of the "North Atlantic Medical Society"). He also urged Jacobs to "keep up Jim Frick's interest in the library." The Frick family lof Baltimore had made a generous gift to expand the library of the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of Maryland in 1896, in honor of Dr. Charles Frick. Osler served on the Med-Chi's library committee, hired the library's first full-time professional librarian, and was active in building its collections, even after he moved to England.
