Abstract:
Discusses the types of force that place stress on a foot that lacks sensation and cannot tell when an injurious or destructive force is encountered. People with insensitive feet get ulcers, infections, wounds, and the like. Brand emphasizes the need for people with Hansen's disease to wear specially-designed protective footwear and to be aware their environments. Continuous low pressure, high pressure impact, and repetitive stress can all cause damage.
