A drawing of Hygieia, in a pink robe holding a Red Cross flag in her right hand, is on the far left hand side of the postcard. On the right hand side, in the foreground, is an eagle perched on top of three shields representing the Red Cross, the crown of Italy and the city of Florence. On the left side of the shields is inscription Dogali, 26 gennaio 1887 and on the right side Adua, Marzo 1896 - both towns in Eritrea where on those dates Italian army suffered heavy losses fighting to gain colonies.
