In this interview, Ms. Novick discusses her own work as a psychoanalyst as well as the career and influences of her father, actor Gene Kelly, and the importance of his role as a sailor under stress in the World War II-era film Combat Fatigue Irritability. This title was one of the first films to depict the psychological stress experienced by sailors, soliders, and others who engage in military combat.
