Shortly after leaving Boston for his new position with the Veterans Administration Hospital and Georgetown University in Washington, Freis initiated a new line of research in response to reports out of Britain and New Zealand on ganglion-blocking agents, such as hexamethonium. In this study, Freis's team reported the effect of these drugs on epinephrine and norepinephrine pressor responses.
