In this article, Freis noted that some patients present differently in the presence of the doctor (and in the environment of the doctor's office) than they do in other settings. Freis advocated instructing a family member on the proper techniques for obtaining the correct blood pressure in the home environment and developing simpler and effective treatments for these patients.
