Sabin was the first to receive this award, given by the Chi Omega sorority in recognition of notable achievement by women. She was selected as the most outstanding of hundreds of American women of distinction in the professions, public affairs, art, letters, business, finance, and education. (Subsequent awards were given to Frances Perkins, Alice Hamilton, and others.)
