Doan worked with Sabin at the Rockefeller Institute from 1925 to 1930, and corresponded with her regularly long afterwards. Here Sabin notes that she has sent him a hearth brush and his daughter a copy of Alice in Wonderland. She then gives a detailed account of her studies of tubercle polysaccharides, and the effects of various controls, along with details of a new slide-fixing technique developed by Dr. Austin Joyner.
