Abstract:
After several years of pursuing other research, Avery's lab returned its focus to the nature of the transforming substance in 1940. When MacLeod left for New York University in 1941, McCarty joined Avery to complete the research. In this landmark article, the three revealed that the transforming substance was DNA.
