This report provides an environmental scan of the volume and the range of cost of recent comparative effectiveness research. Comparative effectiveness research is defined as "Comparison of the effectiveness of the risks and benefits of two or more health care services or treatments used to treat a specific disease or condition (e.g. pharmaceuticals, medical devices, medical procedures, and other treatment modalities) in approximate real-world settings".
