A young leprosy patient (back to camera) is being examined. Verso: WHO/5017. Cameroons- Leprosy. At least: 10,700,000 people in the world have leprosy, and about 4,000,000 of them suffer also from some form of disablement as a result of the disease. Leprosy, widely distributed throughout the world, is particularly prevalent in th edeveloping countries. Like tuberculosis ans many other diseases, leprosy is more easily cured if detected in its early stages. Special attention is therefore given to all children living in leprosaria ans treatment is begun as soon as the first signs of the disease appear.
