TIMOTHY JOHNSON: I described earlier, of course,the magnitude of this large operation of research--and we think of it primarily, I think, as citizensscattered throughout the United States--of it as a research organization. Is it really accurate to describe its primaryintent and purpose as research? DONALD S. FREDRICKSON: Yes, that's its mainpurpose. It's a knowledge seeker--the largest in theworld--and its job is to discover all the secrets we can about all aspects of life andto translate those into things that will make human life much better and more pleasant andlonger.
