Washington, D.C. 20015 Dear Dr. Kolb: It was so good of you to read the articles about my work in the New Yorker magazine and then to take the time to write your kind appreciation. I always find it thrilling when you do write me a note or a letter, for I think of the real pioneer work which you have done since 1923, what with opening the hospital in Kentucky, your work in the National Institute of Mental Health, and perhaps what is most exciting to me is how you were able to learn and grow with all your experience. I run into your son fairly often and he keeps abreast of the work going on here, but that is not the same as having you. Once again, I extend an invitation to you to visit the unit, and to talk with the patients at any time, at your convenience. I was rather hoping that when you. would visit your son in New York that he might bring you down, for he has been down here and has expressed interest in this work. We all owe you so mucy. How can we really express it!: But I do hope you will come and give us a chance to. ; Sincerely yours, vo) “I Marie NyswWander, M.D. a Le Director, Methadone Maintenance Research Project MN:xrd V acted pyres 3(e4 Ake F Gy GES” | a ~ gurtnrés an diy Of -ue Atty an Burra ( hak otf Cte Ug whe ~ titer rf aese fee Be. fo foe fe gellin b Lidl Je kh he /- é Abin TH 4 bent, ea Over seventiihe Years of Service to the Lower East Side Community
