Nis Li i Be aw. THE ROCKEFELLER INSTITUTE A Graduate University and Research Center NEW YORK 21, NEW YORK Feb. 22, 1964 Dear Dr. Kolb; So much is happening in the field of drug addiction; both in terms of developing research as well as changing attitudes on the part of so many people that I just wanted to write to you that you should feel very gratified that your tireless work to make people think is at last bearing fruit. It is exgiting to know that here at Rockefeller Institute they are beginning both chemical”“and behavioral studies on the addicted addict. It is surprising, when one reves the literature, to see that only two addicts have been studied while addicted. And those studies are limited at best. Prejuidice can creep right into the creative abilities of science! Meanwhile I am learning a lot about addicts on drugs, simple things such as that they gain weight, keep themselves neat, read, study etc. Imagene being an"authority"™ on drugs and just finding these things out? I hope you will pay us a visit if and when you come to New York. Warmest regards, oY . 2 4 Pp AAS PRO ReA eo Chivrwereg an 4 PHL BG / GGL
