Mike never seems to have gotten the message that candor can be dangerous to  a public interest lobbiest's health. Last year he was sitting in my Office giving me my marching orders on health appropriations, when we both heard a loud thump on the ceiling. "It must be an SST," says Mike, "that sonic boom is going to kill us all". We raised the health budget anyway.
