The action of Major General McClellan, then commanding the Army of the Potomac, in remitting the sentence of a General Court Martial in the case of Captain Robert Jackson, 36th New York Volunteers, as published in General Orders, No. 173, dated October 24, 1862, from the Headquarters Army of the Potomac, having been submitted to the President under the 89th article of War, he approves the order of General McClellan, and directs that it be carried into effect.
