GENERAL ORDERS, No. 105. WAR DEPARTMENT, Adjutant General’s Office, Washington, August 14,1862. The inspection of all cavalry forces, preparatory to their being mastered into the service of the United States, shall hereafter com- prise, in addition to the usual personal examination, a test of hor’se- manship, to be made under the direction of the mustering officer; and no person shall be mustered into the cavalry service who does not exhibit good horsemanship and a practical knowledge of the ordinary care and treatment of horses.
