Dear Dr. Fredrickson:
I wish you to know of my personal appreciation for the important contributions you have made in the field of biomedical research during your 28 years of Federal service at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), which ended with your retirement in July of this year.
Your efforts at the NIH as physician, scientist, administrator, member of the Commissioned Corps of the United States Public Health Service, and Director, for the past six years, merit special recognition for a job well done.
Please accept my personal thanks and the thanks of a grateful Nation for your outstanding and dedicated service, which has been beneficial for so many people throughout the world.
