To, eae PS October 26, 1959 Mrs. storaror Koay, Secretary Indianapolis Chapter No. 32 Mended Hearts, Inc. Indianapolis 1, Indiana Dear Clarabell: I am most interested that you are the Secretary of Mended Hearts in Indianapolis. This is a job which, of course, is the most important one in the organization and I am sure keeps you quite busy. I am delighted that you feel so energetic and full of vigorous life. I hope that sometime soon you will be coming out Denver way and will give me the privilege of dropping in so that we can say "hello". I think, perhaps,,you are my most favorite patient because you were the first of what has grown to be a rather large family. You will be interested to know, I am sure, that we recently had a series of 112 patients whom we repaired with open suture of their atrial septal defect without a single death. I would never have predicted that open-heart surgery could become that safe. With very best regards and carry on the good work. Very sincerely, Henry Swan, M. D. Professor and Head Department of Surgery pr
