Dear Franny,
Thanks a lot for your nice letter of May 25. I keep mulling over what you told me at Colorado Springs and again in the letter and I am using the two thoughts that you had in all my future thinking. Namely, that any diminution of activity in a dilution space must be due to the addition of cold solution rather than the loss of hot. I think I really knew that but I have never said it to myself so clearly. The other is even more pertinent. Namely, I have always thought in our experiment that there was no other hemorrhage occurring except that hemorrhage which I inflicted myself, but hereafter we will autopsy every dog with extreme care to make sure there was no evidence of internal bleeding.
Will we see you and Laurie in Vienna in August? Geri and I are sailing the Adriatic for a week before hand.
