AIDS Lecture March 7, 1989 19/5 Address By C. Everett Koop, MD, ScD Surgeon General Of the U.S. Public Health Service U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Presented to the Metro New York Chapter of the Young Presidents' Association New York, New York March 7, 1989 It had been 22 days since I had last spoken to a public audience on the epidemic of AIDS. The address was presented to the Metro New York Chapter of the Young Presidents' Association, New York, and March 7, 1989. The Metro New York Chapter of the Young Presidents' Association is composed of the young movers and shakers who will be running Fortune 500 companies before their careers have come to an end. They had specifically requested that I speak on the subject of smoking and AIDS, and therefore it was possible to repeat a talk I gave on the 23rd of June, 1988 to the National PTA in Salt Lake City, Utah. This is a repeat of that, with nothing new, except statistics up to date. There are no new salient features about the AIDS epidemic, and no index, therefore, will be included.
