6th June, 1981 Dear Dr. Koop, Greetings from Ireland! We are all delighted to know of the distinction and honour which has been bestowed upon you in your appointment as Surgeon-General by President R. Reagan. The Pro-Life philosophy which you have espoused should be one of the hallmarks of your great nation. In my view great damage has been done to the name of the United States in many parts of the developing World by the promotion of abortion by both private and public funds from the USA. I hope very much that the new administration will recognise the damage which has been done by the promotion of abortion by the USA Agency for International Development. Every success to your efforts and may the effects of your great work soon be evident. Yours sincerely, John Bonnar, MD, FRCOG Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
