I just wish to respond to the very kind invitations that I had received
from you and from Dr. Westphal to participate in the work you commission.
I regret that it was simply not possible to work this into my schedule at the
present time which is already quite overcrowded. I apologize to have taken so
long to reply by mail but I was confident that Dr. Westphal had already
communicated with you long since the terms of our telephone conversation.
However, that was an insufficient way to answer your cordiality and I wish
to express my appreciation for it.
