Dear Josh:

I wonder whether we might meet at lunch one day soon
to discuss the problem of the future leadership of the Weizmann
Institute. As you know, Meyer Weisgal wishes to retire from
the Presidency as early as possible in 1969; Amos de Shalit has
already left the post of Director-General.

Iattended the recent Board of Governors meeting in
Rehovoth at which this problem was discussed. A Search
Committee (which includes Sporn (chairman), Anfinsen, Chain,
Ginsberg, Sieff, Levine, Feinberg and Stone).would, Iam sure,
welcome any help and advice we might wish to offer. My
secretary, Esther Sherberg, will try to find some date early in
January when we can all be together. If you have any ideas in the
meantime, such as others whom we should invite to meet with us,
please call me.
