Green William Alanson White Institute of Psychiatry 20 West 74th Street New York, New York Dear Dr. Green: The purpose of this letter is to ask you to take one more step towards making the writings and thinking of Clara M. Thompson more widely known, I have to express my own deep personal appreciation to you for having edited the collection "Interpersonal Psychoanalysis" which I encountered almost accidentally a few years ago and found, with- out exaggeration, to be a revelation. My specific proposal is to issue as a separate paperback volume for wider distribution the section of these papers having to do with the psychology of women and the problems of womanhood. There must be millions of people for whom the chapters would convey an especially thoughtful and necessary message. I do not have to emphasize the current ferment in problems of education of women and their and our continued frustrations in seeking to create the social institutions that can begin to be as well adapted to their needs as we demand they be to ours. I do not know of any more articulate or scientifically or psychologically better founded statement of these issues than can be found in her writings and they certainly should be much more widely known than they are at the present time.
