Robinson Office of the Chancellor Western Carolina University Cullowhee, North Carolina 28723 Dear Dr. Robinson: Thank you for your good wishes. I am a bit surprised to see how little genetics (at least in higher organisms!) is represented at Rockefeller University and I am certainly eager to remain in touch with my parent discipline. Certianly the pressures on world food supply and human nutrition which are beginning to be recognized as the scientific challenge of the next century are enought reason to want to sustain this perspective even at an institution primarily directed to health research. I will also be looking for ways in which a sharper policy perspective can be encouraged among our younger faculty without, one hopes, inter- fering with their scientific development. If you have any thoughts about the best means to do that I would find it most welcome. Yours sincerely, JL: ek-f qQory a _ “A+ a ‘UOSYL
