Dear Alan:

Thank you for your nostalgic note of January 29. Yes, of course,
with respect to Arrowsmith although it is hard to see the McGurk
Institute as an attractive model from an organizational standpoint!
But of course it is exactly the tradition of the Institute which is
the most attractive aspect of Rockefeller and I think there is a
very strong concensus to trying to preserve that against a variety
of pressures.

I hope that your letter denotes a stampede of people who would
want to embrace that tradition by voting with their feet.
