Dear Professor Aron,

In view of the fact that we come from such different disciplines
I have been full of astonishment and admiration that our interests and
our views should coincide at so many points. I wanted to thank you
particularly for your little book on progress and disillusion which I found
extraordinarily helpful in crystallizing my own thoughts on the dilemas
of modern times.

Under separate cover I will be sending you some writings on topics
that may be of mutual interest. The only thing that I would ask of you
in return, if you can conveniently provide it, would be a bibliographic
list of your own writings.

I know that my colleagues at the Center for Advanced Studies in the
Behavioral Sciences have made several inquiries to you in the past about
the possibility of your spending some future year. In the light of a new
program on science, technology and society which we are mounting there, I can
add little new substance but certainly some additional warmth to such a

    

concept.
