The Z. Hyg. with Caselitz' paper just cama in. He mentioned in
one line a casual observation that after ultrasonic (survivorships
never mentioned!—mst have been fairly low) a paratyphi B original-
ly in group phase came out specific. He says himself this doesn't
mean anything in view of the "spbunghaft" character of phase
variation, and I don't doubt it was only an accident. In most of
his work, he says, he got buck the same phase as he put in. The
only thing tc the paper is that the flagella are broken off at rather
low doses, leaving presuuably viable bacteria immotile and H-nonaggl.
