Dr. Lederberg;

I am planning to undertake a physical-chemical study
of the DNA obtained from the phage lambda. I would like
to use as a host and indicator bacterial strain your strain
We3101. I have chosen this strain because I have just com-
pleted a study of the ribosomes, or ribonucleoprotein pare
ticles,obtained from this strain. One of the questions I
would like to answer is whether the ribosomes show any
changes following the induction of phage lambda.

Due to a mistake by one of the workers in our labora-~
tory, all of my reference slants of W-3101 have been dis-
carded. Consequently, I would greatly appreciate it if
you would send me another.
