T have had an inquiry from Dr. Schales of New Orleans about the genetics
of "cogasital subluxation of the hip"bin German Shepherds. The condition ap~
pears to be based on an inadequate developmeat of the acetabulum, resulting
in destruction of the hip after about six months of age.

Tf you can furnish me, or obtain for me from your colleagues, citations
to any literature on this subject, I will be most grateful. On the other hand,
if the condition has not been worked out, and you would be interested in col-
lecting pedigree data, I will be happy to recommend Dr. Schales direc tly to
you.
