I am not sure whether you have already moved to Stanford

-- but I suppose this letter will reach you at one. place or the other.
° Incidentally, I spent a very enjoyable time in Stanford last

year as visiting Professor in Rafél¢s Department, so knowing

the place first hand I can really énvy you your appointment.

I am writing to you wondering whether you would be
interested in a Ph.D. student of mine, Mr. Reeves, who is .
getting towards the end of his thesis which is concerned £
with the nature of the F factor in coli genetics, He is. 4
a very good worker although rather young and immature, and Co
I am sure that it would be of great benefit to him to spend .
a year in America in some stimulating environment such as &
yours, Being a science graduate rather restricts the
fellowships available to him from this country, and if you ; ¢
are in any way interested and feel so inclined perhaps you
would write and tell me what fellowships or grants might
be available from your end, if you were willing to have him. 4

Incidentally, I would be very interested to know if you
have done any more work on antibody production by single
cells, following the note you published in Nature. —
