This letter Is to re-affirm our Interest In having you work In this
department next year and {| can offer you an appointment as research asscclate
In Genetics effective January 1, 1961. We are particularly Interested In the
continuation of your studies on the blochemical genetics of galactose metabolism
in bacteria. While we can arrange to pay your salary from funds available to
the Department of Genetics, it would be mutually advantageous if the other
expenses of your work, specifically for the period from January JeJune 30,
1961 could be met from research grants on which you are already namec as
principal investigetor. Perhaps the simplest procedure would be for your
technician's salary to be continued from your present NIH grant administered
through Albany Medical College, however, if there Is any serious difficulty
about this and you can arrange a suitable transition through the NIK administration
in Bethesda, we can process an application for a replacement grant through this
department.
