Dear Joshua:

Malmgren is writing you today a letter concerning Bertani. We are very
anxious to keep him here and this does not appear to be impossible from his
point of view. We are doing our best now to secure the support of the Govern-
ment. I just wanted to let you know, in support of Malmgren’s letter, that
it is extremely important and urgent to submit all papers by May 20. I should

be most grateful if you would write a statement regarding Bertani’s qualifica-
tions for a professorship.
