SWEDEN YOUR INITIALS YOUR LETTER OUR INITIALS H Dear Professor Lederberg, oO I was sorry to learn from your letter of January 3rd that you will not be able to participate in the Conference, but hope ~ that we shall have the pleasure of seeing you in Stockholm some other time. y ([ Since I have recently been appointed as a member of COSPAR's Consultative Group on Potentially Harmful Effects of Space Experi- ments I should very much appreciate if you put me on your mailing list for papers relevant to space biology. I was probably selected as the only biologist in the group on the basis: of nationalp ba- lance considerations and possibly for having a medical training, because I have not worked in space biology and do not think that my early work on ultraviolet microspectrography of bacteria or later studies on the effects of high hydrostatic pressures or bio- technology are very relevant. All the same I now face the need to read up on the area and would appreciate any help you can give me in this effort. I should perhaps mention that I have copies of your articles in The N ew Scientist, 18 Febr. 1960, in Science, August 12, 1960 and the monograph chapter: Exobiology, Experimental Ap- proaches to Life beyond the earth (p. 1153). Also I have a reprint of yourand Dr. Cowie's article in Science, June 27, 1958, but that is all, so any additional material would be of great value. C.-G. Hedén ec. Dr. M. Tveit
