You may or may not kmow that the National Academy of Sciences will
meet iu Bloomington on November 15, 17, and 18, 1959. Dean Cleland who is
chairman of the local Committee suggested that I try te arreige <«. symosium
on antibody formation. He also pwoposeé that I cet ta touch with Dr. Taliaferro
and Dr. Heidelberger who are members of thé Academy. I wrote yesterday to
poth of them end sent them en outline for the symposium. Your name was awong
the proposed spenkers. I eo not know yet the reaction of Dr. Taliaferro and
Dr. Heidelberger, but I expect that they just as well as I will agree that
your participation in the symposium would be extremely importent, particularly
in view of your recent article in Science and the interest which it eroused in
geneticists and immunologists. Although I hope that our plans for « syxposium
on antibody formation wil] be successful you will understand that I an not yet
quite sure about it. However your participetioa seams to me so essential
that I decided to inform you about cur plans. As soon as I imow vore about
the prowran I will write you immediately. In the neantine I would be sled if
you kept our plons in mind and considered participation at the meeting of
