Dear Dr. Lederberg,
Greetings to all at Wisconsin!  As you can see, the Hallidays are now back in Brisbane, after a most enjoyable six months in Europe, and are finding it very difficult to "settle down."
I am hoping to get a few simple class experiments going in bacterial genetics, later in the year.  Would you mind please sending me some cultures for this purpose?  Some auxotrophs (+ parent type) of E. coli K12 for recombination, and a suitable Salmonella system for transduction, would be greatly appreciated.
