Dear Dr. Lederberg,

Thank you for your letter of 24th June. I accept your
suggestion for the 20 minutes introduction on Monday morning and
as far as the abstract is concerned, there is certainly no need to
deliver that to me until the time of. the meeting or even shortly
afterwards.

It appears from Halliday's letter that the best "reefing"
is to be had on the weekend of the 24th-25th as the tides are most
favourable at that time. I have therefore written to him to suggest
that he should go ahead with arrangements for your trip to the
Barrier Reef at this time, and that we should defer indefinitely
arrangements for a trip to the Snowy Mountains. This will mean that
you will leave Canberra at 5.20 on Friday afternoon, 23rd August,
for Brisbane and will leave Brisbane next morning for Gladstone,

near the Barrier Reef. We look forward very much to seeing you in
August.
