paper-back anthology to be called THE NEW MICROPIOLOGY
(McGraw-Hill, 1964) a paper by Dr. Tatum and yourself,

"GENE RECOMBINATION IN THE BACTERIUM ESCHERICHIA COLI", from

JOURNAL OF FACTZKIOLOGY vol. 53, p.€73-€84. 1947. This,

you will recsell, was to be shortened considerably to suit it

to an undergraduate sudience. You indicated in reply that

you would have no objection to my utilizing the paper unedited,

tut hed some reservations about approving its use in con-

densed form, and esked to see a copy of the article as edited, ~~
