From: Eric Hutchinson 9 January 1961 CONFIDENTIAL Dr. Pa Piory, t present the research director at the Mellon Institute, is\pess biy interested in joining the Stanford Chemistry faculty - at any rate his choice has narrowed to Stanford and one other school. The Department of Chemistry is anxious to add Dr. Flory to its staff, and at this stage there is no question of our looking him over: we have already decided that we want him and we are now wooing him. Anything that you can do towards making Dr. Flory feel clearly that we earnestly wish to add him to the Stanford faculty will be most gratefully appreciated by us.
